The free plan generosity and exceptional mobile apps compound the adoption advantages.
For complex enterprise project management with resource allocation, budget tracking or advanced dependency management, alternatives like ClickUp, Monday.com or Wrike are more appropriate. Trello remains the best tool for our marketing team after five years. The visual simplicity means every team member — from junior coordinators to senior managers — uses it without friction. Butler automation handles our repetitive workflows without any technical setup. We recently enabled Atlassian Intelligence on Premium and the AI card summarization for long-running campaigns has been genuinely useful for onboarding new team members to active projects quickly.
Solid visual project management with genuinely excellent Butler automation. For straightforward project tracking with visual workflow management, Trello is the most accessible tool available. My honest feedback is that complex projects with dependencies, resource allocation and budget tracking need additional tools. We use Trello alongside ClickUp — Trello for visual sprint boards and ClickUp for detailed project tracking. Both serve their purpose well.
As a startup founder, Trello's free plan covered all our project management needs for the first 18 months. Butler automation handles our weekly reporting workflows automatically. The Power-Up ecosystem connects Trello to all our other tools without additional cost. The mobile apps are the best in the PM tool category — I manage projects from my phone as effectively as from my desktop. Exceptional value proposition across every price tier.
