Cursor has replaced my standard VS Code setup completely. The Composer multi-file editing is the feature that sets it apart — describing a feature and watching coordinated changes across five files happen is remarkable. The codebase indexing means Cursor actually understands my project architecture. Tab autocomplete anticipates my next thought.
Switched from GitHub Copilot six months ago and productivity has measurably improved. The ability to choose between Claude, GPT-4o and Gemini for different tasks is genuinely useful — Claude for complex reasoning, GPT-4o for fast completions. Agent mode handles complete feature implementations. Pro plan at $20/month is excellent value.
Best AI code editor currently available. The full codebase context in chat answers questions that Copilot Chat gets wrong because it only sees the current file. Privacy mode toggle is a nice option. Business plan SSO integration was straightforward. Wish the indexing for very large repositories were faster.
